BUSHWICK — A woman was critically injured when her boyfriend came to her Brooklyn apartment and shot her in the head before killing himself Thursday night, police said.

The 35-year-old woman was in her fifth-floor apartment at 10 Forrest St., near Bushwick Avenue, about 10 p.m., when the man, 49, came and shot her in the head with a black 9-mm gun, NYPD officials said.

The boyfriend then turned the gun on himself, fatally shooting his own head, NYPD officials said.

The man, whose name wasn't immediately released, was pronounced dead at the scene, police said.

The woman was treated at Elmhurst Hospital where she's listed in critical, but stable condition, police said.

"She's a very nice young lady" and works an office job in Manhattan, according to the building's manager, Sonia Rivera.

The woman had lived at the apartment since 2006 and the boyfriend moved in recently, according to neighbors who said they never noticed signs of discord between them.

"This took us all by surprise. [There were] never any warning signs," Rivera said.
