Local Streets, Parts of Brooklyn Bridge Park to Close for July 4 Fireworks

BROOKLYN HEIGHTS — Macy’s Fourth of July Fireworks show is coming back to the East River this year, which means several road closures for those across the water.

The display will get started at 9:25 p.m. with fireworks being shot off from four barges on the East River between 37th and 23rd streets in Manhattan, and one below the Brooklyn Bridge near the South Street Seaport, across from Brooklyn Heights and Brooklyn Bridge Park. 

Foot and bike paths on the Brooklyn Bridge will close at 7 p.m. until the fireworks display ends.

The following local streets will be closed to parking starting at 11 p.m. on July 3 and closed to vehicular traffic between 4 and 11 p.m. on July 4:

Brooklyn Heights

► Montague Street (from Hicks Street to Columbia Heights)
► Old Fulton Street (from Prospect Street to Furman Street)
► Cadman Plaza West (from Tillary Street to Prospect Street)
► Furman Street (from Old Fulton Street to Atlantic Avenue)
► Columbia Heights (from Remsen Street to Old Fulton Street)
► Atlantic Avenue (from Hicks Street to Furman Street)
► Joralemon Street (from Columbia Place to Furman Street)
► All streets west of Hicks Street leading to the Promenade

DUMBO

► John Street (from Adams Street to Bridge Street)
► Water Street (from Old Fulton Street to Washington Street)
► Front Street (from Old Fulton Street to York Street)
► Main Street (from Front Street to Plymouth Street)
► Dock Street (from Front Street to Water Street)
► All streets north of Plymouth Street leading to the waterfront

Anyone parked in a garage within the frozen zone will need to move their vehicle in or out before 4 p.m. on July 4. 

Brooklyn Bridge Park will remain open for the fireworks display on July 4. Visitors are encouraged to use the entrances at Old Fulton and Furman streets, or Joralemon and Furman streets, where the NYPD will be checking bags.

The main fireworks viewing locations in and near the park will be the Brooklyn Heights Promenade, piers 1 through 6, and the Main Street area near Jane's Carousel.

The following closures will be in effect within Brooklyn Bridge Park:

► Squibb Park will be closed.
► The entrance at Atlantic Avenue/Pier 6 will be closed to pedestrian traffic at 4 p.m.
► John Street will be closed at 4 p.m.
► Restrooms at 99 Plymouth will close at 6 p.m.
► Barbecues on Picnic Peninsula will be closed. Picnic tables and benches may still be used.
► The Pier 2 parking lot will be closed.
► All playgrounds will close at 4 p.m.
► The Pop-Up Pool will close at 4 p.m.
► Jane’s Carousel will close at 4 p.m.
► Pier 2 and the Roller Rink will close at 4 p.m.
► The B63 bus will stop running west of Hicks Street at 4 p.m.
► Pier 5 sports fields will close at 4 p.m.
► Pier 6 Volleyball Courts will close at 4 p.m.
► DUMBO Boulders will close at 4 p.m.
► Governors Island Ferry service stops at 4 p.m.
► East River Ferry service stops at 4 p.m.

The NYPD also announced street closures in Manhattan and Queens
