Green-Wood Cemetery in Greenwood Heights is taking a public stand against gun violence on both its website and social media accounts.

On Thursday the main image of the Brooklyn cemetery's website showed an open grave behind the words "Less Business if fine with us. End gun violence now."

On June 22, the cemetery also tweeted an expanded image which includes an unmarked tombstone and a similar message. The tweet was directed at the Mayor's office, Public Advocate Leticia James, Council Member Carlos Menchaca and Brooklyn Borough President Eric Adams.

The same image was found on cemetery's Facebook and Instagram accounts.

Green-Wood spokesperson Kim Esp said in a statement that tweet was part of a social media campaign against gun violence.

"Death is inevitable. But death at the end of the barrel of a gun is preventable," Richard J. Moylan, President of Green-Wood, said in a statement. "Green-Wood is proud to join with Mayor de Blasio in his call for every New Yorker and American to be able to live in a nation free from gun violence.'"

The gun control debate became a major issue again after a mass shooting at a gay nightclub in Orlando, Florida, left 49 people dead earlier this month.
