CRIME BLOTTER: Rite Aid Staffer Steals 180 Packs of Cigarettes, Police Say

BROOKLYN HEIGHTS — A Rite Aid employee stole more than $2,000 worth of cigarette packs from a Clinton Street location over two days in June, police said.

The 38-year-old man, who was arrested June 25, swiped a total of 180 packs on June 11 and June 18 from the store at 101 Clinton St., according to the police report.

On the first and second days respectively, he stole roughly $337 and about $1,723 worth of cigarette packs, police said. 

The laundry list of stolen brands include 70 packs of Parliament White worth $817; 30 Native American Spirit Blue worth $351; 20 Newport Kings worth $222; 30 Marlboro Silver worth $326; 10 Native American Spirit Yellow worth $117; 10 Parliament Silver worth $116; and 10 Marlboro Red worth $108, according to the report. 

Rite Aid did not respond immediately respond to request for comment. 

Other crimes in the 84th Precinct, according to police, include: 

► A 63-year-old woman fought off a would-be purse snatcher while walking down Henry Street near Remsen Street at about 7:30 p.m. on June 22, according to a police report.

The unknown thief, described as a 20-year-old man, approached her and grabbed her purse while pushing her to the ground, leaving her with injuries and pain in her elbow. The victim struggled on the ground to hold onto her purse while the man tried to steal it, police said.

He fled the scene with the victim's iPhone 6S.

► Two men, 46 and 20, were assaulted and robbed by a group of five men while walking from the corner store to a pharmacy, police said. 

The victims were on Warren between Smith and Hoyt streets when five unknown men approached and threatened them with what appeared to be two black handguns June 23 between 2:30 and 3 a.m., according to the police report. 

The group, all described as 18-year-old men, punched one of the victims and pushed his face into a metal gate. They grabbed the other victim's wallet and cellphone and fled the scene, according to the police report. 

► A 25-year-old man was arrested for stealing a Citi Bike from Clinton and Montague streets in Brooklyn Heights, police said.
