The NYPD Is Feeling the Pride

By Angely Mercado | June 23, 2016 2:33pm

With all of the upcoming Pride events going on in the city this week and into the 5th Ave parade this weekend, various organizations across the city are gearing up to show their support for the LGBTQ community.

The NYPD will proudly show off some rainbow colors on police vehicles, as they and various media outlets have tweeted photos of a police vehicle with "NYPD" written in rainbow stripes, a multi-colored heart with "NYC Pride 2016" in black letters on the side.

Instead of the traditional slogan, "Courtesy, Professionalism, Respect" that adorns NYPD squad cars, the Gay pride vehicle has the words, "Pride, Equality, Peace." The car's back window also displays the message: "Our Heart Goes Out to Orlando."

The 78th Precinct also tweeted a video of NYPD officers who are "out and proud" about being part of the LGBTQ community in the city.
