Kay Ch’ien, the owner of the now-closed 2 Duck Goose, has opened a new restaurant in the same space that promises to treat diners to “vibrant” Asian flavors in a fast-casual setting. The menu includes standards such as sesame peanut noodles ($9.99) and roast pork lo mein ($12.99), as well as attention-grabbers including a a Caesar salad ($9.99) made with chrysanthemum leaves, crispy tofu, "almond parmesan," bao croutons, crispy seaweed and vegetarian Caesar dressing.

Type of Cuisine: High-end bar food with a low-end price

Ethyl’s Alcohol & Food is the Upper East Side’s newest bar by Chef Paul Gerard. When you’re not drinking one of its many cocktails or beers, you can choose food from its short and sweet menu, which offers a signature $5 burger, chicken wings, smoked crab dip, dirty nachos and "chocolatey balls" — made with cheese-stuffed meatballs covered in chocolate mole sauce — all for under $12. The venue has a number of events, including go-go girl dancing and comedy nights.

The popular Malaysian chain, which has more than 100 locations across the globe, opened its new outpost in Flushing earlier this year. PappaRich uses spices and sauces imported from Malaysia, which give the food authentic flavor. Popular dishes at the restaurant include prawn mee, nasi lemak, roti canai and assam laksa. It’s usually crowded at dinner time.
