The life of boxing champion and activist Muhammad Ali, who died last Friday of ongoing respiratory issues at age 74, has inspired a number of biopics and documentaries since the 1970s.

This weekend, you can pay your respects to Ali at New York City movie theaters screening two films, "The Trials of Muhammad Ali" and "Ali," and at the Paley Center for Media.

The 2013 Bill Siegel documentary "The Trials of Muhammad Ali" offers an in-depth look at the athlete's relationship with the Nation of Islam and his opposition to the Vietnam War. Film Forum in SoHo will be screening the film from Friday through Tuesday. You can find daily show times here.

"Ali," a 2001 film starring Will Smith, focuses on the boxer's life and career from 1964 to 1974. Smith received an Oscar nomination for his portrayal. "Ali" will be screening Friday at Regal Union Square Stadium 14 at 7 p.m. and 10:40 p.m. at UA Kaufman Astoria Cinemas 14 at 9 p.m., and UA Staten Island Stadium 16, in Mariners Harbor on Staten Island at 7:55 p.m.

Four different television clips from the Paley Center for Media archives will be playing at the organization's Midtown location Saturday and Sunday. You can watch two different ESPN documentaries, Ali's 1969 interview with William F. Buckley, and footage of his 50th birthday celebration. Look up show times here
