BEDFORD-STUYVESANT — A man was fatally shot in the head while taking cover behind a car during a fight that spilled out of a nearby barbershop Tuesday night, a witness said.

Shane McCargo, 44, was inside D's Barbershop at 358 Marcus Garvey Blvd., near Putnam Avenue, about 9 p.m. when he and another man got into a fight that moved out into street, according to police and a witness.

McCargo quickly ducked behind a car as the gunman started firing, a witness said.

"The second guy had a gun in his hand. He fired four shots, 'Bop, bop, bop, bop!'" said Luis Perez, 55.

McCargo then lifted his head during a brief pause, Perez noted.

"The fifth shot got him right in the forehead. He fell face down, right away," the witness said.

"His head was to the left and there was a hole in his forehead. His eyes were open. There was no trying to save him."

McCargo, who lived nearby on Jefferson Avenue, was pronounced dead at Woodhull Medical Center, police said.

"The gunman ran up to Putnam and got in a car," Perez added. "A driver was waiting for him and they took off."

There were no immediate arrests, police said.
