BEDFORD-STUYVESANT — Farm-to-table eatery Willow, operated by the owners of a popular Gowanus restaurant, has closed its doors on Franklin Avenue.

Owner Carver Farrell sold the spot to a “young chef/owner” who will take over the small Bedford-Stuyvesant space on Franklin Avenue near Fulton Street, according to Eater.

A sign in the window of 506 Franklin Ave. read “CLOSED” on Tuesday, with a thank you to customers, friends and neighbors.

The posting included an excerpt from Walt Whitman’s poetry collection “Leaves of Grass,” reading:

“This is thy hour O Soul, thy free flight into the wordless,

Away from books, away from art, the day erased, the lesson done,

Thee fully forth emerging, silent, gazing, pondering the themes thou lovest best.

Night, sleep, and the stars.”

The decision to close “was really because we found the right person to take over and are very excited about the energy and enthusiasm they will bring to the space," Farrell told Eater.

The owner was not immediately available for comment.

Farrell, who opened The Pines in 2012, brought Willow to Bed-Stuy with chef John Poiarkoff last April.

The eatery offered “hyper-seasonal, experimental tasting menus” with pairings, according to the restaurant’s website.

A new owner is expected to re-open a business in the space by July, according to reports.
