VIDEO: Woman in Wheelchair Randomly Slashed Across Face, Police Say

MANHATTAN — A man slashed a woman in a wheelchair across the face Sunday morning in an unprovoked attack in East Harlem, police said.

The suspect, who can be seen in surveillance footage released by police, was heading past 167 E. 125th St., near Third Avenue, about 3:19 a.m. when he slashed the 42-year-old woman, an NYPD spokeswoman said.

Her cut was stitched up at Lincoln Medical Center, police said.

She had just gotten off a bus before the attack, an NYPD spokeswoman said.

Police video, taken from what appears to be multiple cameras, shows the suspect walk up from a subway station and head along the sidewalk.

The suspect is between 18 and 25 years old and was last seen wearing a black V-neck T-shirt, black basketball shorts with a white stripe down the leg and white basketball sneakers.

Anyone with information should contact Crime Stoppers at (800) 577-TIPS (8477).
