BROOKLYN — Police released photos Sunday of three men they said randomly beat a transgender woman in Park Slope earlier this month, leaving her with a fractured eye socket in an attack the NYPD is investigating as a hate crime.

The 32-year-old woman was walking north on Seventh Avenue near Eighth Street about 11:10 a.m. on May 13 when three men, who can be seen in police video, started insulting her, NYPD officials said.

One of the men with a tattoo under his eye slugged the woman in the face, prompting the two other men to do the same and pull her hair, police said.

The woman took herself to Methodist Hospital, where she was treated for a fractured nose and a fractured eye socket, police said.

The NYPD's Hate Crime Task Force is investigating the attack, police said.

Police released photos of the suspects Sunday morning.

"Our community is both outraged and deeply saddened to see a hate-fueled anti-LGBT attack in our own backyard, and our hearts go out to the individual who was so brutally attacked in broad daylight," City Councilmen Brad Lander and Carlos Menchaca said in a joint statement with community leaders.

"Our community is committed to proving that we are the welcoming neighborhood we've long been known to be."

Anyone with information should contact Crime Stoppers at (800) 577-TIPS (8477).
