CARROLL GARDENS — South Brooklyn locals eagerly awaiting the arrival of Citi Bike in their neighborhoods will have a chance this week to learn more about the anticipated rollout.

The Department of Transportation will present an update on its expansion plans for the bike sharing program for Community Board 6, which includes Park Slope, Red Hook, Carroll Gardens and surrounding neighborhoods.

The meeting will take place May 19 during CB6's transportation committee meeting at P.S. 58 at 6:30 p.m.

The DOT postponed an earlier update meeting scheduled to take place last month as it was still working out details of the rollout. An agency spokesman declined to provide further details on the update.

The citywide expansion plan is set to double the number of bikes in the Citi Bike fleet. In CB6 neighborhoods, 62 potential sites for docking stations have been identified.

The blue bikes are expected to roll into local neighborhoods this year. Though an exact date for the installation has not been announced, the expansion would be completed by the end of 2017, officials have said.
