RED HOOK — Red Hook's 7,000-square-foot workshop for artisans is holding its first open studio this Friday.

Nearly two-dozen makers work out of Supersmith, a converted warehouse that's shared by artists at 125 Dikeman St. It officially opened late last year.

From 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. on May 13, Supersmith's 22 resident artisans such as Talbot & Yoon, Wrenlab and Polt, will show off their work. That includes furniture, leather goods, ceramics and metalwork, co-owner Natalie Shook said.

Supersmith will also officially open its retail shop "Shook + Co" at the Friday night launch party that starts at 7 p.m. The event is free and open to the public.

"Shook + Co" opened last year as a pop-up shop, but will now be a permanent fixture at the space, Shook said.

It will not only sell wares from the in-house designers but also hardware supplies, paints, tools and stationery.

Along with a central work space , Supersmith features private studios, conference rooms, tools and heavy machinery that may be too expensive for most small business owners to buy themselves, Shook has said.
