You may have have spotted him in a coffee shop, on the playground at Maria Hernandez Park, or in a local gallery. The iridescent tail feathers and striking colors of Bushwick's very own neighborhood peacock are tough to miss.

It's Dexter the peacock and you can follow him on Instagram.

Dexter belongs to neighborhood artist Ventiko who often makes work that features her pet bird from a "live photographic experience" at Governors Island Art Fair, to music videos to self-portraits like the one pictured above.

"In between wee pad cleaning, talon painting, and gallery hopping, it’s hard to keep up with his busy social life," Ventiko wrote in an email. "Luckily though if I promise to look fierce, he allows me to attend events with him."

Dextor and Ventiko are often spotted walking around Maria Hernandez Park, to the frequent surprise of Bushwick residents, despite the fact that they've lived in the area for more than a year.

Ventiko bought Dexter off Craigslist in Miami when working on an installation for Art Basel in 2013, Bushwick Daily reported.

After the installation was over she found Dexter a home, but when she discovered that he had been living in a garage, she took him back. The two have been together ever since.

"What can I say? Living with a peacock is pretty cool, but cohabitation with Dexter the Peacock is fucking awesome!" Ventiko wrote.
