QUEENS — A Jamaica man who sexually abused a 13-year-old girl and owned 55 files of child pornography will go to prison for three years, the Queens District Attorney’s Office announced Monday.

Apolo Munoz, 44, confessed to molesting the teenager after police found videos of prepubescent children being sexually assaulted, as well as a Glock .45 handgun in his home while executing a search warrant on March 24, 2015, the DA's office said.

The 13-year-old told police Munoz repeatedly touched her breast, buttocks and vagina between January and May 2015, according to the DA.

"It is extremely important that people realize that child pornography depicts real children being abused and who will forever be emotionally disturbed and physically scarred by what has happened to them," said Queens District Attorney Richard Brown in a statement.

“In this case, the defendant went beyond fantasizing with pictures online and for several months inappropriately touched a girl whom he knew.”

Munoz pleaded guilty to sexual abuse, possessing a sexual performance by a child and criminal possession of a weapon on April 14 in Queens Supreme Court.

He will be supervised for three years after he completes his three-year prison sentence, the DA said. Munoz is also required to register as a sex offender in New York State.

His lawyer, Michael Schwed, said Munoz readily confessed after police searched his home.

“He didn’t intend to hurt anyone, he cooperated completely with the police,” said Schwed. “He’s trying to change his life.”
