BROOKLYN — Police shot and wounded a man who charged them with a dagger in Bergen Beach Sunday, NYPD officials said.
The 27-year-old man, who police described as emotionally disturbed, barged into 6809 Avenue T, near Veterans Avenue, about 7:11 p.m. prompting someone to call 911, NYPD officials said.
When officers arrived, the man left the building and charged at them with his dagger, police said.
An officer fired twice and hit the man in the torso, police said.
He was treated at Brookdale Hospital, where he's listed in stable condition, police said.
He was in police custody but was still awaiting formal charges Monday morning, police said.
Investigators recovered the dagger at the scene, officials said. It resembled the dagger seen in movies such as "The Golden Child" and "The Shadow."
