'Hamilton' Breaks Record With 16 Tony Award Nominations

Megahit musical "Hamilton" has hit another high note.

The Broadway sensation about the first U.S. treasury secretary was nominated for 16 Tony Awards Tuesday, surpassing the previous high of 15 held by "The Producers" and "Billy Elliot."

Hamilton and its cast, namely creator Lin-Manuel Miranda, received nominations for acting, writing and directing, among several other categories.

The award show is scheduled for June 12 at the Beacon Theatre.
