TIMES SQUARE — An employee at New York City’s biggest candy store stole about $8,500 in cash on dozens of occasions over the course of several months, police said.

Jason Daly, 24, started stealing money from M&M's World at 1600 Broadway, between West 48th and West 49th streets, in November, a complaint filed with the Manhattan District Attorney’s office said.

Video surveillance from the store showed the employee taking cash from patrons and stashing it under the register before pocketing it on four separate occasions between April 2 and April 13, the DA’s office said.

He also reprinted receipts after the thefts, the NYPD said.

Police originally said he stole approximately $8,500 in cash from the store. However, the DA's office only stated Daly took more than $1,000 by stealing money on 60 occasions dating back to November.

The reason for the discrepancy between the two figures was unclear.

Daly was arrested on April 18 and charged with petit larceny, the DA's office said.

He was released on his own recognizance and is expected to appear in court on June 17.

An attorney for Daly did not immediately respond to a request for comment Friday.
