LOWER EAST SIDE — Locals can now get their first glimpse of the shiny condo building set to replace the now-shuttered Streit’s Matzo factory, which is slated for demolition within the next few weeks.

A rendering of the 7-story glass structure was unveiled in a New York Times story about luxury dwellings popping up in the formerly gritty Lower East Side, highlighting the 11-story condo being erected next to Katz’s Deli as well as the shiny monolith replacing Streit’s at 150 Rivington St.

Developer Cogswell Realty in April bought the property bordered by Suffolk and Clinton streets for $30.5 million, and is now plowing ahead with plans to partially demolish the historic factory to make way for the 45-unit development — set to include luxury amenities such as a bike room, a gym, a laundry room, and a rooftop terrace.

The family business had churned out matzo at the factory since opening in 1925, but ultimately decided to close the crumbling operation in 2015 due to difficulties manufacturing on outdated equipment and is shifting production to Rockland County.

Meanwhile, a local filmmaker has marked the impending demolition with a documentary film about the history and eventual closure of the factory, which premiered on April 20 and will run through April 26 at the Film Forum on West Houston Street.

An accompanying photo exhibition is on display at 24 Avenue A through May 5.
