WASHINGTON HEIGHTS — A woman was arrested for fatally stabbing her brother in a Washington Heights apartment building Monday morning, police said.

Estefani Loria, 21, got into a fight with her brother, Jeffrey Loria, 19, inside 1370 St. Nicholas Ave., near West 178th Street, about 6:17 a.m., according to friends and NYPD officials.

She stabbed him in the chest and he was pronounced dead at Columbia University Medical Center, police said.

The sister was arrested at the scene, police said.

It wasn't immediately clear what sparked the fight, police said.

The younger Loria was recently hired at the St. Nicholas Avenue building where he lived and was fondly remembered by his friends.

"He just got a security job here in the building. He was excited to open the door for his own mom," said family friend and neighbor Gisselle Lopez, 22.

"He was a great guy. He was the total opposite of all the other boys around here. If you told him to go to the store for you, he would," Lopez said.

Lopez said that the sister was quiet, but didn't seem to bear any ill-will toward her brother.

"She was very to herself. She never opened up," said Lopez who went to the same elementary school as Estefani.

"I know she loved her brother. She would send him to the store to buy cigarettes. She always hugged him. She'd be laughing with him, smiling with him," Lopez said.

"I don't believe this. I'm still in shock. What is this world coming to?" she added.
