FLATIRON — An accountant at a baby gear and clothing company stole more than $15,000 from her bosses by charging personal expenses on the company card and cutting herself checks, according to a criminal complaint.

Natasha Recio, 29, of Hackensack, N.J., wracked up more than $11,000 in personal expenses on a company card and doled out two payroll checks to herself worth a total of $4,000, while working as an accountant for Skip Hop, a company specializing in colorful toys and gear for babies and parents, according to the complaint.

She made the charges with the company card between June 6, 2015, and Jan. 16, according to police.

Then, on Nov. 13 and Nov. 27, Recio used her access to the payroll to cut herself two paychecks, each for $2,109, according to the criminal complaint.

Recio made off with more than $15,200 total, police said.

Police arrested Recio on April 5, and prosecutors charged her with one count of grand larceny, according to court records. A judge released her without bail pending a June 1 court date, records show.

A lawyer for Recio and representatives of Skip Hop did not immediately respond to requests for comment.
