CRIME BLOTTER: Teen Punched With Metal Lock in 2 Train Assault

CROWN HEIGHTS — A 16-year-old boy was punched in the face with a metal lock on the 2 train by a classmate last week, police said.

The teenager was riding the train southbound near the President Street station on Nostrand Avenue in Crown Heights around 3:55 p.m. on April 7 when the suspect approached him and punched him in the lip with a fist closed around a metal lock, according to police.

Police said the assailant is the victim’s classmate at a nearby high school. The attacker fled the train on foot and has yet to be arrested, police said.

The 16-year-old received stitches for the injury to his face at Kings County Hospital.

► A 24-year-old woman was assaulted and robbed inside the lobby of her building on April 9, police said. The woman was walking into 1625 President St. around 11:30 p.m when a man came up behind her, wrapped his arm around her neck and said “I’ll murder you if you don’t be quiet,” then asked her for money. In an ensuing struggle, her cellphone dropped to the ground. She gave the assailant $5 and he took off with the money and her phone.

► Police are looking for a man who threw a trash can at a deli worker after the two got into an argument about the man stealing beer. The altercation took place at a deli at 1040 Nostrand Ave. around 2:40 a.m. on April 9 after the 64-year-old worker accused the suspect of having stolen beer from the shop in the past. The suspect then went outside of the store, picked up a trash can and threw it onto the deli counter, injuring the worker’s left hand, police said. The suspect then fled the shop southbound on Nostrand Avenue.

► Two teenagers were arrested for stealing Citi Bikes on Classon Avenue on April 7. Police said the two young men, ages 17 and 18, were found outside of Clara Barton High School at 883 Classon Ave. around 2 p.m. each riding a Citi Bike that had been reported stolen earlier in Bedford-Stuyvesant. They were both charged with criminal possession of stolen property, according to police and court records.
