STATEN ISLAND — The borough president's crews dedicated to cleaning up Staten Island's dirty streets will return to the borough in full force next week.

Borough President James Oddo announced that his "Clean Team" will resume full time starting next week and asked residents to notify his office of problem spots they should tackle.

"If you see a location in need of cleaning, please take a moment to report it to us so we can get it added into our database and get it cleaned," Oddo said in a statement.

"Our Clean Team has cleaned hundreds of locations during the last few years and we will continue to be out there each week as long as the weather allows. Our commitment to cleaning is as strong as ever."

Aside from his "Clean Team," Oddo said he partnered with the Parks Department to perform cleanups at several spots adjacent to park land, with Forest Hill Road and Todt Hill Road set to be closed for cleanup next week.

Since he took office, Oddo has worked to tackle the litter problem on Staten Island and partnered with the borough's City Council members to develop a cleanup plan in 2014.

Aside from Oddo's team, the City Council also gave a Staten Island nonprofit a $206,000 grant to perform litter cleanups and Councilman Steven Matteo has worked with the Department of Sanitation to crack down on illegal dumping in the borough.

Residents can report streets that need a cleanup to the borough president's office by sending a message to their Facebook or Twitter accounts, through the BP Assist mobile application, on their website, calling their helpline at 718-816-200 or emailing the location to Anthony Esposito.
