CRIME BLOTTER: Would-Be Robber Uses Walking Stick to Threaten Pedestrian

BOERUM HILL — A man swung a walking stick at an unsuspecting pedestrian in Boerum Hill last week before demanding the victim's cellphone and wallet, police said.

A 38-year-old pedestrian was walking on the sidewalk at Pacific and Bond streets around 7:50 a.m. on April 1 when he was approached by the would-be robber, authorities said.

"Give me your phone. Give me your wallet," the thief said as he waved his walking stick in front of the victim's face, according to the police report.

He then tried to pull the cellphone from the victim's hand but did not succeed, police said.

The man, who appeared to be about 50 years old, fled north on Bond Street with the walking stick, according to the report.

There was no stolen property or injuries reported.

Other notable crimes in the 84th Precinct, according to police, include:

► Wallets, credit cards and a pair of pants were stolen from lockers at two gyms in Boerum Hill and Brooklyn Heights last week.

On March 29, a $50 wallet and miscellaneous cards were taken from an unlocked locker at a gym on Boerum Place. The next day, a wallet, credit cards and pants were taken from a locker at the gym's 179 Remsen St. location.

It was unclear whether the incidents are related.
