Housing Legacies On the Upper West Side

Where: Hostelling International, 891 Amsterdam Ave. at West 103rd St., Upper West Side
When: 6:30 p.m.

Thomas Mellins, the curator of the recent Affordable Housing exhibit at the Museum of the City of New York will give a talk, alongside other local experts, on the affordable housing legacies of the neighborhood. The free event is being put on by the Bloomingdale Neighborhood History Group.

Last Ever Williamsburg Spelling Bee

Where: Pete’s Candy Store, 709 Lorimer St., Williamsburg
When: 7 p.m.

After more than a decade of quizzing Williamsburg residents, the hosts of this monthly spelling bee are calling it quits because they’re “old and venerable.” Help them go out with a bang during this celebration starting at 7 p.m. followed by a real adult spelling bee.

Mindful Parenting

Where: MNDFL, 10 E. 8th St., Greenwich Village
When: 7 p.m.

Mother and meditation teacher Elena Brower will teach a mindfulness workshop at the Village’s new meditation center for parents interested in learning how to keep their zen when the kids are going nuts. Book a cushion online for $10 if it’s your first class, or $15 otherwise.

Feast Bed-Stuy Food and Drink Tour

Where: Malcolm X Boulevard, Bedford-Stuyvesant

CHIPS Gala Honoring City Councilman Brad Lander

Enjoy live music, cocktails and food at this first-ever gala to support CHIPS, the nonprofit that feeds hungry people in Park Slope and Gowanus and runs a shelter for single moms.

Q-Boro Literary Crawl

Where: Various venues in Long Island City
When: 6:30 p.m.

A dozen local bars and restaurants will host poetry readings, spoken word performances, literary trivia and more during this fundraiser for the Queens Book Festival. Tickets start at $10 online and will get you access to events as well as food and drink specials at participating venues.

Anderson Cooper in Conversation with Gloria Vanderbilt

Where: Barnes & Noble, 33 E. 17th St. in Union Square
When: 7 p.m., wristbands will be available starting at 9 a.m.

Anderson Cooper and his mom, socialite and heiress Gloria Vanderbilt, will discuss the book they co-authored “The Rainbow Comes and Goes: A Mother and Son On Life, Love, and Loss.”

Room 28 is back with a three-day show that’s sure to bring a lot of laughs and fun. The $25 ticket will not only get you into the show, but also includes the open bar networking mixer at 7 p.m. with beer from Dyckman Beer Co. and cupcakes by Sprinkle Splash Sweet Shoppe. The show runs through Saturday, April 9.

► Orchestra of St. Luke’s at Carnegie Hall

Where: Carnegie Hall, 881 Seventh Ave., Midtown
When: 8 p.m.

The Orchestra of St. Luke’s will perform its final Carnegie Hall Orchestra Series concert with guest mezzo-soprano Susan Graham, led by guest conductor Nicholas McGegan. Graham will perform Britten’s "Phaedra, as well as three works by Purcell. Ticketholders also have a chance to hear Graham and McGegan discuss the show and preview pieces from the concert on April 6.
