Friday, April 1

► Off the Boat

Where: Staten Island Arts Culture Lounge, St. George Ferry Terminal, St. George
When: 7 p.m.

Staten Island OutLOUD kicks off National Poetry Month with a reading of poems inspired by the Staten Island Ferry. The free event is curated by local poet Lisa Rhoades and will feature Jonathan Fox, Dan Icolari and Marguerite Maria Rivas reading their original work inspired by the boat.

Saturday, April 2

North Shore Street Tree Stewardship

Where: Tappen Park, Water and Bay streets, Stapleton
When: 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.

The Stewardship Team of the North Shore will host a volunteer event to care for the trees in Tappen Park on Saturday. Volunteers will be trained in litter removal, weeding, cultivating and mulching and are asked to come dressed in sturdy boots or shoes, long pants and clothes that can get dirty. Visit the Parks Department's website to register to volunteer.

Wildlife Puppet Show

Where: Blue Heron Nature Center, 222 Poillon Ave., Eltingville
When: 1 p.m. to 2:30 p.m.

The Parks Department's Urban Park Rangers will host a free puppet show to encourage children to explore nature. All supplies will be provided and for more information call 718-967-3542.

Tavern Concert Wahoo Skiffle Crazies

Where: Historic Richmond Town, 221 Clarke Ave., Richmond Town
When: 6 and 8 p.m.

The final month of this year's acoustic performances inside Historic Richmond Town's Guyon Tavern kicks off with a performance by jug-band the Wahoo Skiffle Crazies. The group plays traditional jug music, protest songs, blues and more and was recently crowned America's premier jug band at a competition in Chicago. Tickets are $11 online, $13 at the door.

"Growing Food on Staten Island" Film Screening

Where: Greenbelt Nature Center, 700 Rockland Ave., Willowbrook
When: 2 p.m.

The Greenbelt Nature Center will host a free screening of the documentary "Growing Food on Staten Island" by filmmaker Jay Weichun. For more than five years, Weichun filmed local gardeners to highlight the art of gardening and the borough itself. Email naturecenter@sigreenbelt.org to reserve your seat.

Staten Island Seisiún

Where: Flagship Brewing Company, 40 Minthorne St., Tompkinsville
When: 2 p.m. to 5 p.m.

The monthly open session of traditional Irish music returns to Flagship Brewing Company on Sunday. Musicians Linda Hickman, Douglass Barr, and Bob Wright will led the program, which includes "tunes of the week" for players to learn.

Protectors of Pink Oak Woods Photography Exhibit Opening Reception

Where: Conference House Park, 298 Satterlee St., Tottenville
When: 3 p.m. to 5 p.m.

The Protectors of Pink Oak Woods, which is dedicated to preserving parks in the borough, will host an opening reception for their photography exhibit celebrating their 40th anniversary as a group. The exhibit, "40 Years of Green," will run in the Lenape Gallery until June 11.
