The city charges you a 2.49 percent “convenience” fee to pay parking tickets, your taxes and other fees and fines if you use a credit card.
A third of parking tickets are now paid via credit card, according to a new report from Comptroller Scott Stringer, who called the fee "antiquated and obscure."
The city raked in $10.5 million last year from the fee, an increase of 40 percent from $7.5 million in 2012.
“As fines and fees increase, it’s important for New Yorkers to see and understand what they are being charged for,” Stringer said.
