EAST HARLEM — The bridge between East Harlem and Randall's Island will be closed early Friday morning for maintenance, according to the Metropolitan Transportation Authority.

From 12:01 to 5:01 a.m., MTA crews will be testing the Robert F. Kennedy Bridge's lifting system every 20 minutes, meaning no cars can cross the bridge during those times, according to the agency.

There will likely be delays so drivers should find a different route.

The MTA does maintenance test lifts at the bridge every couple of weeks to make sure the lifts are working, according to an MTA spokeswoman.

Just last year, the bridge, which links the Harlem River Drive, the FDR Drive and 125th Street, got a new generator for the lift span so the lift doesn't get stuck if power goes out.
