The opening celebration for Coney Island's parks was supposed to take place on March 20, but it had to be rescheduled due to a forecasted snowstorm which never quite materialized.

Coney Island's rides and attractions will open this Saturday at 11 a.m., according to a press release.

As usual, the officiation will commence at Deno's Wonder Wheel Park with the annual Blessing of the Rides event. This year, the ceremony is dedicated to Pastor Debbe Santiago, who originated the event with Denos Vourderis 31 years ago. She passed away last month, the release said.

If you're interested in attending, you might want to arrive early: This year marks the the Wonder Wheel's 96th season, and to commemorate that the first 96 riders ride for free. Luna Park is offering free rides on the Cyclone for the first 100 people in line.

Guests can also visit the Coney Island History Project for free, and take photos with memorabilia from classic Coney Island rides.

Wonder Wheel Park and Luna Park will also be open on Easter Sunday, should you not be able to make it on Saturday.
