Man Shot Twice Fighting Off Attackers Who Wanted His Chain, Police Say

EAST ELMHURST — A man was shot twice after fighting off a group of attackers who tried to steal his chain necklace early Sunday morning, police said.

Three men approached the 26-year-old victim at 4:30 a.m. near 96-10 31 Ave. in East Elmhurst, and demanded he hand over his chain, according to the NYPD. 

While fighting off the suspects to keep his chain, one of the men shot him twice, hitting him in the stomach and shoulder.

The suspects fled and the victim was taken to a nearby hospital in critical but stable condition, police said. 

Surveillance photos capture the three suspects, including one who is between 5-feet-1- inches and 6-feet tall. 

Descriptions of the other suspects were not immediately available.
