HELL'S KITCHEN — An attacker broke a man's nose while using an anti-gay slur in an incident being investigated as a possible hate crime, the NYPD said.

The 36-year-old victim, a Manhattan resident, was trying to hail a cab for a friend in front of 765 Ninth Ave. around 4:45 a.m. on March 8 when he got into an argument with two people he didn’t know, police said.

At some point during the dispute, one of the people punched the man in the face and broke his nose, according to police.

The attacker also said "f--k you f----t" during the assault, before hopping into the the cab and fleeing southbound on Ninth Avenue, police said.

The victim was taken to Mount Sinai Roosevelt Hospital for treatment, according to police.

A 26-year-old woman and a 30-year-old man, both from Manhattan, witnessed the attack, the NYPD said.
