Chelsea Landlord Stomps on Woman's Foot in Fight Over Rent: NYPD

By Noah Hurowitz | March 11, 2016 10:29am | Updated on March 14, 2016 8:24am

CHELSEA — A Chelsea landlord attacked one of his tenants and broke a shoe rack in her apartment after an argument over rent became heated, according to a police report.

Xiaoming Huang, 35, and the tenant, a 26-year-old woman, got into a fight over rent shortly after 9 a.m. on March 2 outside the woman’s apartment on Sixth Avenue between West 28th and West 29th streets, police said.

The war of words escalated when Huang grabbed the woman by the arm, bruising her, and stomped on her foot, cutting her toe and drawing blood, according to a police report.

The tenant also accused Huang of intentionally destroying a hanging shoe rack in her apartment, which she said cost $30, by hitting the door and causing the rack to fall, according to a criminal complaint.

Prosecutors charged Huang with assault, criminal mischief, and harassment, records show. A judge released him without bail, pending an April 27 court appearance, and issued a restraining order barring contact with the victim, according to court records.

A lawyer for Huang did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
