GREENWICH VILLAGE — A man was pushed onto the subway tracks at West 4th Street by another man in a black suit, police said.

Police said the 39-year-old victim was standing on the platform at the West 4th Street subway station in Greenwich Village about 3 a.m. on Feb. 12 when the suspect shoved him onto the tracks.

Nothing had preceded the push, police said.

The victim was able to climb back onto the platform by himself, police said, despite bruising to his left leg and arm. Police said the suspect fled.

Police are now looking for the pusher, who they described as a man in his 40s, about 5-foot-10 or 11, between 170 and 180 pounds. They were able to obtain a photo of him from video surveillance in the station. He was last seen wearing a black suit and a black coat, police said.
