BUSHWICK — An apartment building superintendent got bashed with a brick by a gaggle of teenagers that he said he tried to chase off the property for smoking pot in the hallway.

Roger Rivera, 46, who had only been on the job for two weeks, confronted four or five teens on Feb. 29 about 6 p.m. in 1338 Willoughby Ave. while they were getting high on the first floor.

After kicking them out, he walked outside. As he turned away, he felt pain against the back of his leg, he said.

Rivera was rushed to Wyckoff Hospital for minor injuries, police said.

Rivera returned to work the day after the attack but wasn't doing any heavy lifting or manual labor, focusing instead on his cleaning duties, he said.

Two days before the Feb. 29 attack, the same group of four or five teenagers had turned up at the building and were knocking on doors and ringing bells, Rivera said.

"People are nervous," he said.

Following his injury, Rivera said he switched his schedule so he could leave the building earlier in the evenings. As of Tuesday no one had been apprehended for the attack and an investigation is ongoing, according to police.

"They're kids, they're lost," Rivera said. "Parents need to take better care of their kids."
