MANHATTAN — A man was hit by an A train at the 42nd Street-Port Authority Bus Terminal subway station Tuesday night, according to the MTA.
The man was struck by the train at 8:20 p.m. according to an FDNY spokesman.
Police officers spoke to the victim, who was conscious, through the gap between the platform and the train. he was removed from the tracks around 8:45 p.m.
Pamela Marazino said the man was leaning against a beam on the A train platform when she saw "his legs go in the air."
“He fell in front of the train, but the train was slowing down just in time. It’s a miracle," she said.
She said the victim yelled, "I want to get out!" when the train stopped above him.
Marazino said another bystander jumped onto the tracks after the train stopped to check on the victim.
The victim was taken to Bellevue Hospital in serious but stable condition, fire officials said.
"He was alive, his head was moving," Marazino said. "I'm really happy he was alive."
Service on southbound A, C and E trains was restored after trains had been bypassing 42nd St-Port Authority and ran with delays Tuesday evening, the MTA said.
