Monday, March 7

 “Crime Stories: Photography and Foul Play”

Where: The Metropolitan Museum of Art, 1000 Fifth Ave., Upper East Side
When: 10 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.

View a collection of crime photographs and mug shots dating back to the 1850s that were used by police, as well as iconic news photos capturing some of American history’s most infamous cases, in this new Met exhibit. See Jack Ruby shooting Lee Harvey Oswald in 1963, the wanted poster for the capture of President Lincoln’s assassins and more.

► An Evening on Parade

Where: Museum of Jewish Heritage, 36 Battery Place, Battery Park City 
When: 7 p.m.

The creative team behind the Tony-award winning musical "Parade," a show based on the trial of Leo Frank, will discuss the production. The evening will also feature live performances from the musical. Tickets are $20.

► Night Train with Wyatt Cenac

Where: Littlefield, 622 Degraw St., Gowanus
When: 8 p.m.

Tickets are just $5 to $8 for a night of comedy hosted by Wyatt Cenac of “The Daily Show” fame with Michelle Buteau, Mike Lawrence, Langston Kerman, Neel Nanda and more.

► Kalamazoo Strong: A Benefit Cabaret    

Where: Laurie Beechman Theatre, 407 W. 42nd St., Hell's Kitchen
When: 9:30 p.m.

Friends, alumni and natives of Kalamazoo, Michigan and Western Michigan University are joining forces to raise money to support the victims of the Feb. 20 shooting tragedy in the city. The university’s Music Theatre Performance Class of 2016 and artists, including jazz singer Janis Siegel, will be performing at the benefit.

► Eco-Parent Workshop Series

Where: P.S. 34, 131 Norman Ave. Room 204, Greenpoint 
When: 3:30 p.m. to 5 p.m.

Join Geoffrey Cobb, the author of “Greenpoint Brooklyn’s Forgotten Past” for a conversation on the neighborhood’s history and environmental concerns in the area.

6th Annual International Women's Day Celebration

Where: 809 Restaurant & Lounge, 112 Dyckman St., Inwood
When: 6 p.m. to 9 p.m.

Join the Centro Altagracia de Fe y Justicia’s 6th Annual International Women’s Day Celebration as they honor seven uptown women and organizations. Tickets for the event are $40, which include wine and appetizers.

► SS Columbia Lecture

Where: New York Public Library Roosevelt Island Branch, 524 Main Street, Roosevelt Island
When: 6:30 p.m.

Learn about the SS Columbia, a steamboat that transported residents from downtown Detroit to Bois Blanc Island in Canada, and hear what one group is doing to restore the 113-year-old boat to active service on the Hudson River.

► Caribbean Fitness Class Wukkout!

Where: 1195 Bedford Ave., Bed-Stuy
When: 7 p.m. to 8 p.m.

Learn to “wine,” “juk” and “wuk” to soca and calypso tunes at these $10 Wukkout fitness classes. Get down with Caribbean-inspired moves meant to invoke the feeling of Carnival.

► LIC Reading Series with John Leguizamo

Where: LIC Bar, 45-58 Vernon Blvd., Long Island City
When: 8 p.m. to 10 p.m.

Join the Astoria Bookshop for its regular reading series, which this month will feature actor and author John Leguizamo, as well as writers Mira Jacob, and Tracy O'Neill who will read from their works. Seating is limited. To guarantee a spot, attendees must pre-order one of the writers’ works through the Astoria Bookshop website. More details here.

Wednesday, March 9

► Movie Night Wednesday — “Bridge of Spies”

Where: Central Library, 89-11 Merrick Blvd., Jamaica
When: 6 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.

Watch Oscar-nominated movies for free at the Queens Library. This Wednesday, the library will screen “Bridge of Spies.” On March 16, library-goers will get a chance to see “Creed,” on March 23 — “Spectre” and on March 30 — “Spotlight.” Registration is not required.

► Janette Sadik-Khan In Conversation With David Byrne

Where: Barnes and Noble Union Square, 33 E. 17th St.
When: 7 p.m.

Come hear former Transportation Commissioner Janette Sadik-Khan, author of “Streetfight: Handbook for Urban Revolution” speak with David Byrne about her book, which lays down a plan for “rethinking, reinvigorating, and redesigning our cities.”

 BRIC FLIX: Women Behind the Lens

Where: BRIC, 647 Fulton Street, Fort Greene
When: 7 to 9 p.m.

In honor of Women’s History Month, BRIC will be screening excerpts of films made by and about women, including “Speed Sisters” about the first all-woman race car driving team in the Middle East and “Canary in a Coal Mine,” a woman’s story about suffering a debilitating disease. Jenni Wolfson, executive director of Chicken & Egg Pictures, will moderate a panel discussion with the filmmakers. This event is free and open to the public.

Thursday, March 10

► The Very Hungry Caterpillar Live

Where: Powerhouse Arena, 37 Main St., DUMBO
When: 4:30 to 5:30 p.m.

The Very Hungry Caterpillar is rolling into DUMBO on its VW Bug for a reading of Eric Carle’s classic children’s book. Kids can meet the one and only Hungry Caterpillar, plus other puppets from the Eric Carle Live Show, then participate in an interactive drawing activity. Books will be available for purchase and guests can enter for the chance to win a family pack of four tickets to The Very Hungry Caterpillar Show. This event is free with an RSVP.

Community Meeting and Talent Show

Where: 216 Ft. Washington Ave., Washington Heights
When: 5 p.m. to 7 p.m.

Meet the Growth and Development Services (GDS) advocates and learn about the organization’s programs, while enjoying a show of community talents. The organization will present their plans for the advocacy program and how the community can become involved with the efforts.  

 Partnerships Academy: How to Start or Join a Community Park Group

Where: Arsenal Building, 830 Fifth Ave., Upper East Side
When: 6:30 to 8:30 p.m.

Learn how you can join an existing local park group or form one of your own. These groups bring programs and funding to their parks, as well as advocate for political support.

► Author Katie Roiphe on Her New Book “The Violet Hour: Great Writers at the End”

Where: Macaulay Honors College, 35 W 67th St., Upper West Side 
When: 7 to 9 p.m.

At this free event, author Katie Roiphe will read from her new book “The Violet Hour,” about the last days of Sigmund Freud, Maurice Sendak, Susan Sontag, Dylan Thomas, John Updike and James Salter, among others.

► Fred Kaplan in Conversation With “On The Media” Host Brooke Gladstone

Where: Community Bookstore, 143 Seventh Ave., Park Slope
When: 7 p.m.

Fred Kaplan, author of “Dark Territory: The Secret History of Cyber War” talks to radio host Brooke Gladstone of “On The Media” about his new book, “a chilling new look at the international struggle for online supremacy,” according to Community Bookstore.

► READ Brooklyn: “Writing Beyond Diversity”

Where: Brooklyn Museum, 200 Eastern Parkway, Prospect Heights
When: 7 p.m.

To kick off the first ever READ Brooklyn book fair set to take place at the museum this weekend, writers Tanwi Nandini Islam and Daniel Jose Older will discuss “creating art that actually represents the world we live in” and how changes in Brooklyn have affected their work. The free discussion will be moderated by Brooklyn writer and editor Ashley C. Ford.

► “My Brooklyn, Your Brooklyn” & Selected Readings

Where: 61 Local, 61 Bergen St., Boerum Hill
When: 7 p.m.

This spoken-word event will bring together the childhood experiences of two poets who grew up in Brooklyn. Darryl Alladice (Measuring in Liters, Jaundice) and Catherine Gigante-Brown (The El, Different Drummer) will trade lines to create this performance piece filled with memories, personal challenges and growing pains. The writers will also be reading excerpts from their work. The event will cost $5 at the door.  

► RadioLoveFest

Where: Brooklyn Academy of Music, 30 Lafayette Avenue, Fort Greene
When: 7:30 p.m.

Be a part of your favorite radio show at RadioLoveFest, a multi-day festival featuring live tapings of shows like "Wait Wait… Don’t Tell Me;" "Death, Sex & Money;" and "The Moth." The three-day radio festival hosted by BAM and WNYC kicks off Thursday, and will feature curated film screenings, live music and talks by notable radio hosts like A Prairie Home Companion’s Garrison Keillor.
