PARK SLOPE — Brooklyn Borough President Eric Adams said Friday he's adding $1,000 of his own money to a reward to help catch a 250-pound robber who choked and beat a 91-year-old Park Slope woman, calling the suspect a "brute" who preys on the elderly.

The NYPD is offering an additional $2,500 for information leading to the arrest of the suspect, who's also wanted in connection with a Feb. 11 home invasion on Sixth Avenue and Prospect Place in which a 71-year-old woman was pistol-whipped and robbed of $370, police said.

"This is a bad person and he needs to go where bad people go, and we call that jail," Adams said at a Friday press conference near where the suspect followed 91-year-old Elizabeth Gioino home and robbed her and a neighbor who tried to stop the mugging.

Adams said Friday he's also writing a $175 check to Gioino to cover the cash the robber stole from her.

Gioino was on her way home from the library when the suspect started trailing her, 78th Precinct Commanding Officer Frank DiGiacomo said at Friday's press conference.

"Every officer in the 78th Precinct and in Brooklyn are out looking for him," DiGiacomo said. Investigators have gathered two pieces of video footage showing the suspect, but DiGiacomo said police want more.

He asked local residents who might have video footage to contact police so the NYPD can use facial recognition software to help track the suspect.

“If you have cameras that show the incident, please give us a call," DiGiacomo said. "We're trying to get better pictures of the perpetrator."

Anyone with information on the robberies should call the NYPD's Crime Stoppers Hotline at 1-800-577-TIPS (8477) or for Spanish, 1-888-57-PISTA (74782).  The public can also submit tips at WWW.NYPDCRIMESTOPPERS.COM or by texting their tips to 274637 (CRIMES), then entering TIP577. All calls are strictly confidential.
