ARDEN HEIGHTS — A promotion celebration ended in suspension after three NYPD officers got into a car accident and hit a Staten Island salon, according to police and sources.

The three officers were suspended without pay after their car crashed into the Hair Do or Dye Salon, at 1547 Arthur Kill Road, at about 11:53 p.m. on Feb. 26, police said.

Police did not identify the officers, but sources named them as 24-year veteran Lt. Vincent Molinini and Detectives Christopher Corulla and Frank Muirhead.

The three, who all worked together in the force investigation unit which looks at incidents of use of force by officers, had been celebrating Molinini's recent promotion at Rookies Sports Bar, in the same parking lot as Hair Do or Dye, before Corulla sideswiped a car then ran into the salon, sources said.

Corulla left his vehicle and the three climbed into Muirhead's car and drove away.

The owner of the damaged car, a DJ at the bar, chased them down and caught up with them at a red light. They identified themselves as NYPD officers and told him they'd come back the next day to settle the damage, according to sources.

They returned to the scene about five hours later and were not breathalyzed, sources said.

The DJ also reported the accident the next morning.

Molinini had an impeccable record, sources said, and had served as a commander in Brooklyn.

All the officers have been suspended without pay pending an investigation.
