NEW YORK CITY - Two of New York's five Sports Authority locations are slated to close in coming months, the company announced.

The stores expected to shutter are located at 171 W. 230th St. in Kingsbridge and 500 Gateway Dr. in East New York, according to a filing submitted to the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the District of Delaware.

statement issued Wednesday by company CEO Michael Foss said the closures "will occur over the next three months."

The retailer filed for bankruptcy Wednesday, announcing it will shutter 140 of its approximately 450 stores across the country.

The remaining three Sports Authority stores in the city, including one in Midtown, Woodside and Forest Hills, were not included on the company's closure list.

Reached by phone Thursday, a manager at the Bronx Sports Authority location said the business "should be around for at least two to three months."

A Sports Authority spokesman declined to comment Thursday on the number of employees working at the two stores.
