"The Vagina Monolouges"

Where: The Pow Wow, 1058 Bedford Ave., Bed-Stuy
When: Friday and Saturday at 7 p.m.

Check out a performance of Eve Ensler’s award-winning play, featuring performers who talk about their not-so-private parts. Proceeds from the show will go toward funding a free, weekly creative art therapy group for survivors of sexual assault. Tickets are $27 and $11 for students. Entrance is on Clifton Place.

A Weekend of Classical Music in Brooklyn

Where: Bargemusic, at Fulton Ferry Landing, Brooklyn Heights
When: Friday and Saturday at 8 p.m.; Sunday at 4 p.m.

Three concerts will be performed at Bargemusic this weekend, featuring pianist Lara Downes, Jeanne Mallow on the viola, as well as Vassily Primakov and Natalia Lavrova, also on the piano. Tickets are at $35.

BAMkids Film Festival 2016

Where: Brooklyn Academy of Music, Peter Jay Sharp Building, 30 Lafayette Ave., Fort Greene
When: Saturday and Sunday, 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. each day

BAMKids Film Fest is back for its 18th year, bringing the best shorts and features from around the world to kids 3 to 11. Stop by BAMCafe afterwards for food and activities including a BubbleMania! performance, magic shows, animation activities, comic book making and more.

"Stay Strong" Exhibit at Five Myles

Where: Five Myles Gallery, 558 St. Johns Pl., Crown Heights
When: Saturday 4 to 6 p.m. and Sunday 1 to 6 p.m.

Artist Marline Nkounkou, a native of West Africa, will share photography documenting her work with immigrant youth in Brooklyn, in part to encourage young people to reach out about the "difficult challenges in their lives," she said. The exhibit is made possible by funds from the Invest in Youth Initiative from the Brooklyn Community Foundation, based in Crown Heights.

Friday, Feb. 26

Typewriter Night at Nunu Chocolates

Where: Nunu Chocolates Cafe and Tap Room, 179 Fifth Ave., Park Slope
When: 6 p.m. to 9 p.m.

Pound out a quick poem or story on one of two typewriters that will be available for use, or bring your own typewriter. Fuel your writing with craft beer and Nunu's handmade chocolates.

"Bamboo in Brooklyn"

Where: 10 Forrest St., Bushwick
When: 6:30 p.m.

The Working Theater is hosting a reading of "Bamboo in Brooklyn," a play about gentrification. The reading will be followed by a community conversation. The reading is free but you should RSVP ahead of time. Here’s how.

NYC Launch of "Flashed: Sudden Stories in Comics and Prose"

Where: BookCourt, 163 Court St., Cobble Hill
When: 7 p.m.

"Flashed," a collection of flash fiction in comics and prose, will be released Friday night at BookCourt. Edited by Josh Neufeld and Sari Wilson, the book features work by Anna North, Dean Haspiel and Jason Little.

Saturday, Feb. 27

African-American History Month Celebration and African Dance Workshop

Where: Atlantic Terminal Community Center, 501 Carlton Ave., Fort Greene
When: Noon to 4 p.m.

Celebrate Black History Month with spoken word, drumming, African dance and storytelling activities. Take an African dance workshop between 3 and 3:30 p.m. and enjoy refreshments at this free event.

Beer & Charcuterie Workshop

Where: Berg’n Beer Hall, 899 Bergen St., Crown Heights
When: 4 p.m. to 5:30 p.m.

For $45 a ticket, learn from experts how to pair local New York beers with the best charcuterie in this one-time workshop offered as part of Beer Week in the city.

Opening Reception For Underground Artist Lou Rosconi's Solo Show

Where: MF Gallery, 213 Bond St., Gowanus
When: 7 p.m. to 10 p.m.

See work by the underground artist Lou Rosconi, known for "a macabre aesthetic and a talent for extreme gore," according to Heavy Metal Artwork. "Lou's vivid imagination and powerful compositions have made him a favorite amongst certain music circles and his artwork has graced album covers and merchandise from the likes of Mortician, Necrophagia, The Murder Junkies [and] Giallos Flames," according to MF Gallery.

Sunday, Feb. 28

Painting with Berries, Roots and Leaves: Honoring George Washington Carver

Where: Crayons & Culture, 188 Madison St., ground level, Bed-Stuy
When: 2 p.m.

At this family-friendly event children can learn about botanist and inventor George Washington Carver. Little ones can explore parts of plants and create their own artwork made from berries, roots and leaves.

Artists' Talk at 440 Gallery

Where: 440 Sixth Ave., Park Slope
When: 4:40 p.m. to 6:40 p.m.

Hear six new members of the 440 Gallery collective discuss their work at this talk, followed by a question and answer session. The artists are: Jo-Ann Acey, Eric Banks, Richard Barnet, Leigh Blanchard, Joy Makon, Amy Weil and curator Karen Gibbons.
