► 10th Annual Youth Empowerment Summit

IslandVoice will host its 10th annual "Youth Empowerment Summit," which aims to bring young people from different backgrounds together to interact and connect with local leaders. This year's event will focus on job development, substance abuse, technology and gun violence and will feature workshops, panel discussions and more. The special guest for this year's event is Ralph McDaniels, of Video Music Box, who will conduct a production on gun violence and conflict resolution. The event is free and people can register online to attend.
► Historic Richmond Town Tavern Concert
Where: Historic Richmond Town's Guyon Tavern, 441 Clarke Ave., Richmond Town
When: 6 and 8 p.m.
The weekly series of acoustic performances inside Historic Richmond Town's Guyon Tavern continues with a concert by Carl Gallagher and the Off Track Bettors. Tickets are $11 online, $13 at the door and shows are at 6 and 8 p.m.

The monthly Performance Arts Salon Saturday series returns to Snug Harbor's Newhouse Center for Contemporary Art with a performance of "Breaking Bread" by Working Theater. The play, written by Chisa Hutchinson and directed by Kristin Horton, invites theater-goers to attend the Gibilisco family reunion dinner in a piece that explores community, family ties and racial tension. Tickets are $10.
► First Open Mic Night at Fab Cup
Where: Fab Cup Coffee Shop, 605 Forest Ave., West Brighton
When: 6 to 9 p.m.
West Brighton's Fab Cup Coffee Shop will host their first open mic on Saturday, inviting Staten Islanders to perform anything from poetry to music inside. Admission is free with the purchase of one drink.
► Staten Island Filmmaker Showcase
Where: Staten Island MakerSpace, 450 Front St., Stapleton
When: 7 to 10 p.m.
Richmond City Media will host free screenings off several films by Staten Islanders, including the premiere of short film "Sender."

Author Avi Gvili and artist Chris Spollen — who makes Steampunk sculptures with trash he finds in junkyards and on street corners — will discuss their new book "The Art of Recycling" and conservation nationwide.

When: 7:30 p.m. to 12 a.m.
Hypno-Tronic Comics owners, Joy Ghigliotti and Edmund Varuolo, will host their fourth annual Oscar watch party at Jimmie Steiny's Pub, who will have drink specials during the award ceremony. The party will have a $10 Oscar pool, with first place taking the pot and second place winning a Hypno-Tronic Comics gift basket valued at more than $100.
