RED HOOK — It's no secret that The Beatles had strong ties to India.

The lads from Liverpool are said to have written more than 40 songs while practicing transcendental meditation at an ashram in north India in 1968.

George Harrison in particular was deeply inspired by the country's culture and music, and even collaborated with legendary sitar player Ravi Shankar.

This week, in honor of what would have been Harrison's 73rd birthday on Feb. 25, Indian classical music collective Brooklyn Raga Massive is playing a Fab Four tribute concert.

The group will perform at Pioneer Works, located at 159 Pioneer St. in Red Hook, on Wednesday, Feb. 24 at 8 p.m. Tickets are priced at $10.

Brooklyn Raga Massive is currently amidst a performing and recording residency at Pioneer Works. Its artists include Neel Murgai on the sitar, Sameer Gupta on drums and tabla as well as Morely, Roopa Mahadevan and Dana Hanchard on vocals.
