"Uncle Charlie" Photo Exhibit at Queensborough Community College 

Where: QCC Art Gallery, 222-05 56th Ave., Oakland Gardens
When: Friday 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., 12 p.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday

Documentary photograph Marc Asnin has taken photos of his uncle and godfather, Charles Henschke, since the 1980s. The gritty black and white photos that show "Uncle Charlie" will be on display at the Queensborough Community College Art Gallery starting Feb. 18 through April 10.

► Celebrate Louis Armstrong's First Recorded Music

Where: Louis Armstrong House Museum, 35-56 107th St., Corona
When: 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Friday, 12 p.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday

Louis Armstrong and His Hot Five are one of the most influential bands in jazz history — and you can take home a piece of that history this month at Satchmo's house and museum. The Louis Armstrong House Museum in Corona is celebrating with a special exhibit, "Hotter Than That — 90 Years of Louis Armstrong and His Hot Five." The exhibit looks at the landmark recordings, the first issued under Armstrong's name. Guests can take home a replica of a page from the famed musician's scrapbook during the band's rise. 

LatticeWorks Dance Collective and Katharine Pettit

Where: Green Space, 37-24 24th Street, #301, Long Island City 
When: Saturday and Sunday at 8 p.m.

The Green Space’s “Take Root” series features monthly shows that pair dance artists together. This month’s show will feature performances by LatticeWorks Dance Collective and choreographer Katharine Pettit. Tickets are $17.

► Award-Winning Play “Fences”

Where: Jamaica Performing Arts Center, 153-10 Jamaica Ave., Jamaica 
When: Feb. 19 and 20 at 7:30 p.m., Feb. 21 at 3 p.m.

The Jamaica Performing Arts Center presents August Wilson's Pulitzer Prize winning drama “Fences,"  which explores African-American life in 20th-century America. Tickets are $15.

► “Ghosts of Amistad: In the Footsteps of the Rebels” Screening

Where: Jamaica Center for Arts and Learning, 161-04 Jamaica Ave., Jamaica
When: 6:30 p.m.

 JCAL is partnering with King Manor Museum to screen documentary "Ghost of Amistad: In the Footsteps of the Rebels," which explores the Amistad slave ship rebellion. The screening will be followed by a discussion lead by co-producers Dr. Phillip Misevich and Dr. Konrad Tuchscherer. The event is free but you have to reserve a seat by emailing emailprograms@kingmanor.org or calling (718) 206-0545 x 13.

► Estampas Mejicanas at the Corona Library

Where: Corona Library, 38-23 104th St., Corona
When: 3 p.m. to 4:15 p.m.

This show, presented by Numina Flamenco, is an interpretation of the traditional Flamenco dance. It will be performed along with the music and folklore of Mexico.

The Eco-Expo Science Fair

Where: Alley Pond Environmental Center, 228-06 Northern Blvd., Douglaston
When: 6 p.m.

Participate in the first APEC’s Environmental Science Fair Challenge, a nature-themed science fair for 5th through 8th graders with a chance to win cash awards and numerous prizes. Saturday, February 20

Lunar New Year Celebration

Where: Queens Botanical Garden, 43-50 Main St., Flushing
When: 1 p.m.

Celebrate the Year of the Monkey at the Queens Botanical Garden. There will be holiday-themed storytime and crafts for kids as well as a tea-blending workshop for adults. Participants are asked to pay $5 to cover materials cost.

Sunday, February 21

 ► “Muppet Treasure Island” Screening

Where: Museum of the Moving Image, 36-01 35th Ave., Astoria    
When: 1 p.m.

Join Kermit, Miss Piggy and other beloved characters in this 20th anniversary screening of “Muppet Treasure Island,” recommended for ages 8 and up. Tickets are $12 and include admission to the museum’s exhibits.

► Star Wars Party

Where: VFW Post 2348, 31-35 41st St., Astoria
When:  1 p.m.

Join the Friends of Astoria Heights Park for this fundraiser party featuring Star Wars-themed crafts, games and snacks, including a chance to make your own light saber. Suggestion donations are $10 per family.
