The municipal ID card — a highly popular initiative the city began last year — can serve as a form of identification for any city resident over the age of 14, regardless of immigration status. Card holders can use the phot IDs to open bank accounts (at select financial institutions), check out library books, and even gain free one-year memberships to over 40 cultural institutions.
