HELL’S KITCHEN — He took everything but the kitchen sink.
An Airbnb guest stole more than $1,225 worth of furniture and other household items from a 10th Avenue apartment — all the way down to the renter's mattress, smoke alarm, clothing hangers and cleaning products, police said.
The 43-year-old host told police he rented out the apartment, located between West 45th and 46th streets, to the guest through Airbnb on Feb. 6 around 2 p.m., the NYPD said.
When he returned to the apartment on Feb. 11 around 10:30 a.m., he discovered the guest had left with his Sony Bravia television and TV mount, his mattress, his dining room table and chairs, a shower head, linens, three lamps, a side table, a $500 Dyson vacuum cleaner, $200 worth of cleaning supplies, $25 worth of hangers, a towel, a set of closet shelves and his smoke alarm, police said.
The renter also used the host's checkbook to write two unauthorized checks — for $225 and $275 — to himself, police said. It was not clear if they were cashed.
Airbnb did not immediately respond to a request for comment on Monday.
On Feb. 5, an Airbnb host lost nearly $5,000 in jewelry and other items after a guest threw a party at a Williamsburg apartment and her belongings went missing, police said.
