WILLIAMSBURG — Talk about ungrateful guests.

Nearly $5,000 in gold jewelry, electronics and other household items were missing from a woman's home after she rented it out on Airbnb to a guest who threw a huge party, police said.

The Airbnb guest hosted a rager on Feb. 5, inviting over 40 people to the Kent Avenue loft building, neighbors told the woman who lives there once she got back from her boyfriend's house, where she'd been staying, according to police.

A MacBook, a Nikon D7000, an iPad, a gold ring, a gold pendant, and a handful of other household items like espresso cups and wine bottles were missing from the 37-year-old victim's apartment, she told police.

As of Tuesday, the items were still missing and no one had been apprehended, NYPD officials confirmed.

Just a few days earlier another Williamsburg resident fell victim to the same kind of crime.

A man who rented out his apartment for a week through the site HomeAway, came home on Jan. 28 to his apartment on Broadway to find a flat screen TV, an LED video projector, and a Panasonic video camera, worth $950 in total, missing, police said.

The rest of the 33-year-old's home was in disarray and several other items were broken, according to police.

Technically, renting out your apartment for less than 30 days is illegal in New York City, according to local laws.

Neither HomeAway nor Airbnb, which both have some protections for people who rent out their homes according to their websites, returned requests for comment.
