CHARLESTON — A man was arrested after prosecutors said he hit another man with a gun and fired a shot — but missed — during a dispute last week.

Joseph Eugenio, 39, got into an argument with a 43-year-old man at the corner of Arthur Kill Road and Johnson Street at 8:56 p.m. on Feb. 4, prosecutors said.

During the fight, Eugenio hit the victim in the head with a gun then fired the shot, prosecutors said.

Eugenio was charged with assault, criminal possession of a weapon, harassment and attempted assault at his arraignment Friday, the Staten Island District Attorney's office said.

His bail was set at $5,000 and he's due back in court March 30, according to online court records.

Eugenio's lawyer did not respond to a request for comment.
