JACKSON HEIGHTS — Local groups and elected officials are holding a forum Monday evening to discuss issues in the trans community.

The forum will be held Feb. 8 at the Jackson Heights Jewish Center, 37-06 77th St., from 6 to 9 p.m.

It will be hosted by trans and gender non-conforming leaders from groups including Make the Road New York, the New York City Anti-Violence Project and the Audre Lorde Project.

Councilmen Danny Dromm and Jimmy Van Bramer, Speaker Melissa Mark-Viverito and Councilwoman Julissa Ferreras-Copeland, as well as the Council's LGBT caucus are supporting the event.

Members of the trans and gender non-conforming community can discuss their experiences with violence, according to organizers.

They'll focus on education, immigration, jobs and policing, organizers said.
