Burglar Hit 6 Murray Hill Apartments Since December, Police Say

MURRAY HILL — Police are on the lookout for a man who broke into six Murray Hill apartments between December 2015 and February 2016.

The burglar snatched electronics, jewelry and a bike from apartments along Lexington and Third avenues, mostly by entering through unlocked windows and doors. The majority of the incidents occurred during the morning, police said.

The break-ins occurred as follows, according to police:

► On Dec. 15, 2015, at 9 a.m.: The suspect entered an apartment near East 38th and Tunnel Exit streets by climbing in the front window and stole an unspecified number of electronics.

► On Dec. 18, 2015: He broke into an apartment near East 30th Street and Lexington Avenue by sneaking in through the bedroom window, but didn’t steal anything.

► On Jan. 17 at roughly 9:45 a.m.: The man entered an apartment near East 33rd Street and Lexington Avenue through an unlocked door and fled with electronics, but not before a neighbor managed to snap a photo of him.

► On Jan. 18: The suspect broke into a home near East 39th Street and Lexington Avenue, where he swiped a cellphone, a bike and trash bags.

► On Jan. 25 at 11:11 a.m.: He burglarized an apartment near East 34th Street and Third Avenue, making off with a computer and eight watches.

► On Jan. 29 at 4 p.m.: He snuck into an apartment near East 36th Street and Third Avenue, where he stole a cellphone and a camera.

Security footage and a witness photo of the suspect show a him wearing a black jacket, a blue hoodie, pants, black shoes and a black belt. He was also spotted carrying a screwdriver, according to police.
