Saturday, February 6
Himalayan New Year Celebration
Where: The Rubin Museum of Art, 150 West 17th St., Chelsea
When: 12 p.m. to 4 p.m.
How Much: Children $10, adults $15.
The Rubin Museum Of Art, the cultural home of the Himalayas, India, and neighboring regions in New York City, is celebrating Losar, the Himalayan New Year with a special program of activities including family tours, live traditional music and craft workshops. 

Collaborative Pollock Mural
Where? Children's Museum of the Arts, 103 Charlton St, TriBeCa
When? Saturday and Sunday 11 a.m. to 4:45 p.m.
How Much? $12. 
Kids are invited to participate in a collaborative artwork using the paint drip and splatter techniques pioneered by American abstract expressionist painter Jackson Pollock. (Ages 5+).

Sunday, February 7
Cirkiz Kids Dance Party
Where: Space Ibiza, 637 West 50th St., Hell's Kitchen
When: From 1 p.m. to 5 p.m.
How Much: $25 at the door.  
Cirkiz is a day dance party for kids in a genuine New York City nightclub environment. Catch 9-year-old progressive house and pop mixer DJ Alden behind the decks and performances and dance lessons between 1 p.m. at 2 p.m. by The CirKiz Dancers.

Family Art Project: Painted Papers and The Stories of Eric Carle
Where: Wave Hill public garden and cultural center, West 249th Street and Independence Avenue, The Bronx. 
When: 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.
How Much: Free, and admission to the grounds is free until noon.
Hear a selection of Eric Carle’s famous stories ("The Very Hungry Caterpillar," "Brown Bear, Brown Bear, What Do You See?"), then take part in a workshop re-creating his technique of cutting and layering colorful pictures.  

Family activities at Brooklyn Botanic Gardens
Where: Brooklyn Botanic Gardens. Entrances at 150 Eastern Parkway, 455 Flatbush Ave. and 990 Washington Ave., Brooklyn. 
When: From 10 a.m. to 12 p.m.
How Much: Free
Activities including winter birding nature walks, origami, card printing workshops and building a miniature Japanese garden from Lego blocks are on offer at Brooklyn Botanic Gardens. For more information check its website.

Medieval Heroes
Where: The Cloisters Museum and Gardens, 99 Margaret Corbin Drive, Fort Tryon Park
When: 1 p.m. to 2 p.m.
How Much: Free with Museum admission ($25 adults, children under 12, free). 
At this family workshop at the Met’s Uptown outpost of medieval art and architecture learn about the brave and inspiring adventures of knights, ladies, and other medieval heroes.
